Zelda was, is, and always will be fucking Baby's First Fantasy. People have been shitting themselves for decades now over how much or how little of an intense fantasy epic each game is (ie. the negative response to Wind Waker, the positive response to Twilight Princess), etc. etc. when honestly it's just fucking Zelda. It's not high fantasy, it was never high fantasy, it's fucking Zelda.
That doesn't make it bad at all, it's still good and it's still Zelda, so you know what to expect from it. It's fun, it's adventurous, it's cartoonish yet charming. But calling it "high fantasy" will literally always be a sign of terminal retardation. Play a different fucking game already or mod Link into Skyrim or some shit and pretend it's what you think Zelda actually is.
