Is this game overrated? I finally got around to playing it and I'm not seeing what's so great about it? It seems like a generic jrpg, was it revolutionary for the time? Do I just not have the childhood nostalgia?

Would anyone be interested in reading my chrono trigger fanfiction sequel. It revolved around the near future where chrono and marles son has to stop an election of a corrupt mayor, and learns reptiles live underground, hes their candidate, a reptile in disguise. The reptiles are trying to summon a baby lavos. Its up to cronos son to get together with a group of rag tag heroes, get their own candidate voted for, stop the reptiles, until theres a twist: their candidate is from the end of time. There is more to this election than meets the eye. The fate of the universe is at stake.
