How noticeable is the quality difference between a 1 chip and 2 chip SNES played on a consumer CRT TV through RGB?

If you haven't already checked it out, Super Back to the Future Part II is surprisingly good for a licensed tie-in game from the 90s. It was a Jap exclusive though, so just make sure you get the translation patch.

Well just by looking at it... having a controller that's basically an NES controller that came out in 1983... when THIS was the gold standard probably had something to do with it.

When I was a kid, like kindergarten kid, I distinctly remember playing the following game:

- You play as some weird character that I can't exactly describe. The only thing I can say about him is that he could stretch himself vertically indefinitely

- The overworld was like a snowy world with sets of castles

- Each castle was it own world, with a set of levels

- I remember you being able to ride cars, helicopters (if I'm not mistaken) and a bathtub (yes, a bathtub, it's a weird game anyway)

- I remember one world was made of chocolate and candies

Can /vr guess the game?

Do you say SNES as an acronym (Ess-Enn-Ee-Ess) or do you pronounce it as if it was a word (Snezz)?

What are the best SNES games, not of all time, but in the context of right now, regardless of how they will be perceived at any point in the future, or in comparison to any possible (almost certainly unlicensed) games for it yet to be made?

When will /vr/ stop being contrarians (and yes, your love for Genesis is pure contrarianism) and admit

1) The SNES had better games than the Genesis. Sure, the Genesis had a good beat-em-up/belt scrolling series in Streets of Rage, but the fact is that the system's library was filled to the brim with games by western developers who knew how to make pretty graphics but not how to make a good game (e.g. Aladdin, Sub-Terrania, etc).

2) The SNES was more technically advanced than the Genesis. You can bring out all of the polygonal demos running on pure 68000 you want, it doesn't mean shit. Polygonal shit was underwhelming in that generation anyway so it doesn't count. For throwing around sprites, it was pretty much just as good, with the exception of early games like Super R-Type. With minor exceptions, the slowdown for sprite-based games wasn't much difference. Feel free to prove me wrong on this.

Also the SNES had a way higher color count. You may go "hurrr real men don't need colors" but the fact is that the higher color count makes SNES games look distinctly "higher-tech" than Genesis games.

Finally the SNES sound capabilities were better than Genesis. Now before you go "FM isn't comparable to PCM", just remember that you can record FM style chords and play it back on PCM just fine so you get the best of both worlds. Oh, but the SNES is muffled you say? That's ridiculously overblown and isn't true 90% of the time. You want muffled instrumentation? Try the drums in Revenge of Shinobi on G E N E S I S.

Is there a tier list or something similar? I've barely experienced any SNES RPGs outside of final fantasy and zelda. I want to emulate some, but only the good ones.

(The main reason is that I realised emulators have a fast forward feature, so I can blast through turn based battles that are easy to win but tedious to fight normally...also makes grinding easier)

What are some comfy/chill SNES games? Pretty open to different genres, mostly looking for something with a pleasant atmosphere and nice music.
