DIY Happ competition sticks + buttons. Oak dyed black with a piano finish. Some things I like, some I don't. Background is just simple printer paper under a lexan top.

>Those joysticks were used in American arcades mostly for their ruggedness
I built a few SNK joysticks using Happ, and like them very much. Every Neo-geo cab I ever used had them, and they are certainly rugged. I personally perfer them over sanwa. I feel like I could break a sanwa, whereas I beat the hell out of the Happ without thinking about it.

>can this be a pick up thread?
Its not a pickup, but I built a few MVS control sticks last week with some leftover lumber. Ended up using staining the oak black before putting a high gloss finish in 6+ coats. They are mirror finished, and it looks pretty sweet. They came out really good! It connects via db15 cables, which remove from the back of the sticks. They are a bit taller than I would have liked, but I used happ competition sticks and they require a bit more space than some of the other brands.

>with the only step up being building a cab with a harness and proper buttons.
I have a console MVS, and got bored last week and built a few arcade style controllers using Happ hardware. I really like how it came out. Eventually I am going to build a cab for it, but for the time being this worked great.

I do like the idea of superguns, and a month ago I didn't know shit about arcade hardware, and I am only scratching the surface now. I really would love to get a MvC2 board next....I know about the suicide battery and all the problems with it, and could handle something like that.
