it's good, but it isn't good enough to justify the existence of movie games today.
thank god indies have made a resurgence, I was almost forgetting what a real videogame looks like. Though modern indie games are kinda gay now, at least we got hotline miami and a few other games that focused on making a fun game over making a hollywood story
When I play a game, I want to have an experience that takes me somewhere like a dream does, and leaves my mind to wonder as I just pick up the skill of advancing further. I don't want to be sucked into some narrative where I feel like I'm just animating characters with no free will until they do a very specific thing, set in a very specific world that is just a copy of ours, only less fake and "friendly" than it already is. The only good games that take place in real life are the ones where your character is off in his own world in a place where noone cares - that's immersive, even in games with pixel or literal 8 bit graphics. The problem with modern "games" is that every character seems to revolve around you, as if you're the only person alive. Solid Snake is by himself and completing a one man mission, but still everyone speaks to him like its the only thing they're doing or exist to do. They talk to him like a baby, and despite playing another character who has a personality so unlike you, you - the player - are being spoken to. Its really corny.

The gameplay of metal gear solid is good, but it started a terrible trend, and there is too much in the game that breaks the immersion. Solid snake is not losing his mind, but the events going on around him are so unlike how people act in real life. What I'm saying is if your game wants to be set in real life, make people talk to the main character like they've got their own lives and don't have enemies that announce themselves to you like its a show and somebody's watching. Some dude is like Im a bad dude, and this is why I'm a bad dude. I have this problem with the world. fuck off
