I don't know, maybe some people are just more OCD about them, I personally avoid using them at all, or only use it to keep track of passwords, or simply take a break, as if I was leaving my old console turned on as a kid while I had dinner or went to school, but there have been a few times where I used it to "beat" something I couldn't do otherwise, just to experience all levels and end it.

I suppose the trick is to have well defined rules in your head as to what you're alright with doing or not, and then just following them, where to draw the line. It's about fun at the end of the day still.

NTA but I gave up on VBA when it bugged a save of mine in Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories, the cards it was dropping for me were all cards that, taking into account the drop rates for each character, at some point started dropping random cards, that made grinding pretty much impossible since one crucial thing was knowing who to grind for cards that I wanted and who to avoid, so that sucked...

I switched to mGBA standalone, and then used a mGBA core for RetroArch, and never looked back as I've had no issues since, it just works. If you'd like to use older emulators, fine, but don't act as if you're superior to anyone for it or that anyone who uses new ones, or RetroArch, is wrong, since it makes a lot of sense to want newer and more polished software over the previous options.

>Saturn emulation is shit and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
I can run PSP emulation on my old laptop quite smoothly... even some PS2 depending on what I'm playing... but nothing on Saturn runs, it's so awful. Its come a long way, but this is a console that still has a long way to go emulation wise...

Why do you dislike them, anon?
I rarely play them, but every once in a while I find something that catches my attention and is a joy, either something that changes mechanics, or just aesthetics, still, they have their place I think.

One thing that really helps is that a lot of video games have an "Infinite Lives" or "Infinite Continues" code, either build into it, or through something like Game Genie, and can be easily inserted into emulators, I prefer doing something like this instead of using save states, as you still play through the levels normally, it's just that you don't get sent back to the title screen anymore, which is always a relief... the only issue is that, just like with save states, your playthrough will never be considered "legit" I suppose.

So I'm in the mood for SNES nostalgia, but I'm looking to replay old classics that are given mostly QoL changes.

Recently played Lufia 1 with 4x mode unlocked and able to run everywhere. Was a fun way to reexperience the game without archaic means to slow down the game. Now I'm trying Ogre Battle that rebalances army units so everyone is more viable and Liches are the only AoE kings.

I'm mostly looking for RPGs with QoL stuff added, but I'm also open for other classics that get romhacks that vastly improves the game enjoyment. My next game to replay after that is gonna be Harvest Moon.
