Genesis 3DS Classics. M2 are gods, they're the only ports better than the original.

Shout out to M2 who have done some of the greatest ports of all time with their 3DS classics.

Are you trying to suddenly pretend ports can't be talked about here? We've had multiple well received huge threads on the M2 classic collections.

Not anymore, I used to years ago before the PSP came along but it's a pain in the ass. It eats batteries like candy so in reality even though it's portable you have to plug it in.

I love, love, love the M2 Genesis ports. There's a ton of love put into them, in Ecco the Dolphin you can even see individual fish in a school are at slightly different depths, it makes it really come alive.

They loaded them up with options as well. Super Hang On has a mode where it makes the virtual cab you're in tilt as you go around corners. You can also set it so you don't steer with the buttons, you steer by turning the 3DS itself as you would a wheel. Combine it with the moving cab, play in the dark and in 3D and it's a pretty amazing experience.

Nintendo did a few NES games which were good too, but it's a pretty complex process and they gave up on it soon into the project.

I've never tried out the 3D emulator settings, that's sort of a different effect but looks neat.

Now that's a solid reason to. PSP is handy in some ways, but it's uncomfortable and built like a piece of garbage. And the D-pad and nub are like tiny torture devices. The days when Monster Hunter was stuck on it sucked shit.

Still, I love the way it made old games look befre 3DS got good.

>Would you pay for newer, kinda different versions of your favorite classics?

That's basically what M2's 3D Genesis games are, and I love them. If a straight remake looks good then I'm all for it. If it looks like shit like the IOS FFVI then I just stick with the original. Cool either way in my books.

Well I'm this guy >>3581790 I've never liked the way CRTs look so I'm happy to not have to use them if I don't have to (I have one in a spare room hooked up to a Saturn, that's it).

To me, I just care about making the games look the best they can in my opinion. What the developers intended doesn't factor into it at all.

I know for certain the the developers of Ecco the Dolphin didn't intend it to be in 3D, but the 3D Classics M2 port is the only way I play now.

To each their own though, if you like what you're doing then more power to you.

It looks kind of neat, but real illusion of 3D with the 3DS ports like Nintendo dabbled with with M2 perfected looks way better.

This is why emulation is great. If a company offers retro games at a decent price or with added features like the wonderful Sega 3DS games then it's good to support their hard work.

But when Nintendo intentionally doesn't bother making the games run on a normal 3DS and then charges stupid prices, then fuck em. Emulate.

If you look at the OP's pic you can see why it was so hard. Making everything pop out at the same spots looks terrible. You actually have to go through and tweak the games piece by piece to make them not look like shit.

Then you're either using a super shitty computer or an outdated emulator. Or the possibility that you're delusional.

At any rate, I like buying things off VC, even though I don't like playing them there. Things are reasonably priced and I look at it more like I'm chipping in support for classic games like this.

The one exception is the M2 3D Sega ports because those are just incredible. Even almost makes Alter'd Beast worth playing. Almost.

Fuck. Yeah I meant to write MK1 and borked that. 2 on SNES was good again.

For good ports, we can list all the Sega 3D classics they're bringing out. They put great work into those.

There's little debate that M2 has done a bang up job with these ports, especially given all the features they include. But what I'm curious about is how many people use the 3D and what do you think of it?

I actually think 2D games with the 3D effect in general look better than fully 3D ones. It's like the game becomes a little diorama that you look into.

And there's just something really magical about seeing these games from my youth in a whole new way. Swimming around in Ecco the Dolphin where everything, even individual fish in a school are at different depths never ceases to amaze me. Just curious if I'm alone on this.

Also general appreciation thread for the games themselves. It's a pretty fantastic line up they've been doing.
