I've played Arcane Dimensions.

I sorted the maps on Quaddicted.com by user rating and checked out some of the top rated ones like Honey but Tbh they're not really what I'm looking for. These maps all seem to emphasise what Quake generally didn't have: a really huge scale and gigantic maps. I'm not looking for that; I'm looking for an experience closer to vanilla and the fan expansion Scourge. I recently played through Scourge after many years and it totally blew me the fuck away. I want more shit like that.

Also I'm looking for a straight campaign level to level, rather than just a collection of maps with a central hub. By the way if you've got a proper campaign with huge maps that's actually a campaign rather than a collection of maps with a hub then that would be cool too.

I just played through this beast for the first time and I absolutely loved it. Probably the best FPS I've played. Everything about the setting, the weapons, combat, monsters. It was all so fucking tightly built.

What are the best fan made levels and how do I get them? I need more of this. Immediately.

I've never played any Quake single player campaign. Are they any good?

What are some spiritual successors to Quake 1, seeing as Quake 2 failed in all regards as a sequel?

Mods and unofficial sequels are acceptable.
