I have my famicom (RF only, no mod) and disk system plugged into a surge protector that I can turn off when I'm not using it. The AC adapters get warmer than US ones do, so it makes me feel better to give them a rest when I'm not using it. The channel selection can definitely be weird. I have 4 CRTs: one doesn't see it at all, two on channel 91, and the other one works on channel 61. No idea what is different internally, but that's the way it is.
