Most recently I've been watching a bunch of action classics and Steven Seagal movies I hadn't seen before, but this whole DVD/VHS discussion reminded me that I went full retard in December and attached a Chromecast via a HDMI to Composite switch, so I could stream 10 hour Fireplace videos from YouTube while playing Hitman, for that extra comfiness.

Unless you get into some hacking stuff, I don't think there's any way to make a Chromecast output in 4:3, so it's not worth the hassle for regular movie watching. It'll just squeeze 4:3 content together with black bars on the side, if you stream via Plex.
