>480p it just distorts the image does this not happen for everyone?
That's because you (and I) have standard definition monitors. They'll only do 240p/288p and 480i/576i.

MultiFormat sets like the L5 and certain BVMs will do those as well as 480p/720p/1080i.

This is a 480p RGsB signal being fed to an SD only 20M2MDU; It tries to display the picture, but ends up doubling it due to the doubled sync rate of the 480p signal.

You can get triple images by feeding even higher sync rates, but none of this is probably "good" for the monitor's electronics.

>that thing where if shows the screen twice but kinda torn in half, whenever I use 480p
That means it's trying to display it as 480i; That is, it does not support 480p.

>wii doing wii things
It's not Wii exclusive. Same thing will happen with anything feeding a 480p signal on a 480i screen, be it from a PS2, PC, or otherwise.

Unless it looks like it's in really good condition and/or you're feeling rather lucky, it might not be that good of an idea. Personally, unless I could see something displayed on it, I probably wouldn't go for it.

Just having them shipped is taking a risk, as some of the horror stories that have came up in these threads can show.

>Awww
Well, it'd technically display an image, but it'd still come out interlaced and wouldn't be very playable.
This is what happens when you feed a 480p signal to a 480i only monitor, assuming it displays the signal at all, that is.
RGsB from a PS2. Accent Core is one of the games that do support progressive scan on the system.

Higher resolution signals do similar things, except with more duplicate images.
