i didn't. i actually had an older brother who had NES games that my mom gave to me even though he got rid of the system because she didn't understand the concept that they wouldn't work on my gamecube. i did discover emulation soon after though which made me feel like pic related

So for a while I been interested on what 2D games could do on 32 or 64 bit hardware that could not be done on weaker machines but most of those games are kind of obscure so I had not seen much of what could be done but last night I was playing:

and at 03:40 that rotation of the background blew my mind, that's just what I wanted to see all this time.
Does /vr/ know of other games showing off what 32 bit machine could do with 2D like this?

I still held on to my Gameboy SP for all these years and now I'm just buying the cartridges for games I wanted as a kid. I just managed to buy Wario Land 4, however the sticker doesn't look great so I'm hoping to fix that by trying to remake the label and printing on sticker paper and cutting it to fit the cartridge.

This is one of my favorite roguelikes of all times, mostly because it was my first one back when I was a little kid.

>getting into the first dungeon
>seemingly dead end
>hurr why are there empty tiles on the corner, I can't even get in there
>What a shitty game
>One week later get back in the game

I've seriously been playing it the whole time since you mentioned it. This is the single most balls to the wall doom wad I've ever had the joy of playing.
