I remember getting my N64 and my tech illiterate father watching me play this. He was all like "Oh wow, it's just like watching TV!".

I'm 24 and I grew up with a Genesis.

I never forgot about Sega's consoles, but I think others have and younger /vr/ troopers never really knew enough about them in the first place.

I also think >>919939 is right. The SNES only has so many games and eventually gamers will start to check out the Genesis catalog and be impressed with the sheer amount and variety of quality titles. This might happen sooner than later due to the price of SNES games vs. Genesis games.

Also the fact that Nintendo is still around and pushing old games into new gamers faces via the VC makes younger gamers think that the SNES was the only thing to happen in the early-mid 90's when the exact opposite was true.

I had a japanese exchange student that stayed with my family for a few months. He gave me a cd full of his favorite snes games back when emulation was a new thing, at least to me anyways. I played the shit out of this and Gokujo Parodius. I wonder how that kid is doing, he was a fucking bro.
