yfw the internet ultimately ruins all culture so whenever humanity colonizes a new planet we set it up like a ye olde tymes nuclear theme park and don't tell anybody who grows up there because otherwise the universe would be boring and even more pointless.

The reason retro games are so good is because we're thousands of human generations deep in faux-retro being a design medium that people constantly create for as basically a programming puzzle, and we just choose a select subset of games/hardware to pretend were the "real" beginning of computer gaming every time we settle a new planet and pretend to re-invent computers.

Nah it's fucking propaganda the big money has been pushing forever. Tapes, VHS, games, same shit.

I used to spend a lot of time on gamedev communities. The topic came up a lot as you'd expect.
So we broke it down. Over and over. As people with a professional and ethical interest. The fact is that more players is always a good thing--growth is geometric--unless you're a massive publisher and/or (maybe) a super established franchise who can reach saturation-levels of mind share.

No matter how many times it came up the conclusion is basically the same... because it's obvious if you think it through.
Yet no matter how many times that happened you'd still somehow always get retards like Phil Phish talking about "lost sales" like they're entitled to money in peoples' pockets somehow.
It doesn't benefit you a fucking thing to think that way, but greedy retards are super vulnerable to anyone dangling even just the narrative of a dollar bill in front of them.
