The cables are so expensive because there's a special proprietary chip inside the plug that converts the digital signals to analog RGB/component depending on if you get the D-term one or the component one.

It has been reverse engineered and done in an FPGA, but sadly the FPGA is expensive and most people don't know how to use them. Thus prices stay high.

And do the NES and famicom controller PCB's look exactly the same in that pic? that's intentional. They are the same. Just wired differently.
