>tfw my mom purchased a strategy guide but kept it hidden so I wouldn't abuse it
>tfw I made her give it to me 'cause I couldn't figure out how to move drunk-ass Boos Miller
>tfw I used the guide for the whole game
>tfw I cried after beating it because it went by too fast and I didn't "earn" it.
>tfw I never would have figured half that shit out anyway.

That experience shaped my philosophy of not using guides, ever.

Also, I'd like to know some good text-adventure games. Something beyond the usual sword and sorcery bullshit. Are there any text adventures that are small, domestic tales?
