I live in Japan, so I just buy JP copies of games. I could order them online, but I enjoy the thrill of the hunt as much as playing the games themselves, so I like to look around Bookoffs and the like for games I'm after.
I collect horror games, but I have almost all of the really expensive ones already. Just need Mad Panic Coaster and Laplace no Ma now.

I'm not interested in hardware modding- for me that defeats the point of buying the game physically in the first place. I don't care about keeping the game 100% immaculate, even if it did cost over 300 dollars as a few of my games have. Just want to play them.

Still on Yuuyami Doori Tankentai, quite a long game.

Over the last five years or so I've been collecting obscure horror games. The most money I've spent is about $350 on Yuuyami Doori Tankentai, closely followed by about $300 on Kowai Shashin.

I don't regret it. Yuuyami is a fascinating game.
Kowai Shashin is a good collection piece since it's the subject of some 2ch urban legends which say the game itself is cursed.

I don't know, I like to play games using the physical media so I was just going to play it in Japanese.
