Jesus, the FM sound chip was the best mod I've ever done to a machine. Master System PSG is so god awful, one of the worst soundchips ever to be in a game console. So few sound channels and all games sound exactly the same. Don't get me wrong, I love my Master System, R-Type is a childhood favorite, but the first time I popped in Fantasy Zone 2 after installing the FM mod, I never wanted to go back. The FM should've been stock in all regions.

I think the idea of a portable master system is alright, but why didn't they include the FM chip upgrade? Gamegear games sounded like dogshit compared to the Gameboy's stereo goodness. Color, backlit games with FM synth would've been so fucking rad.
