Yeah the war had a bit of an eh, ending, but I think it was still reasonable enough, they tried to explain it well enough.
Even if the fights with the rainbloods and against your other armies was a bit wonky to say the least. At least the fight against the second army in Scenario 2 felt a bit more natural in why they would fight you.

Well that and the rainbloods just kinda lost their threatening aura by then.

This was the series that introduced me to RPGs. I must have played the original 5 or 6 times through. When I got my hands on SF2 I got stuck after the Kraken battle because I didn't know where to go, yet I still played the game for hours a day just grinding and walking around the world exploring.

3 hands down. It kind of sucks that I had to read from a script to play part 2 and 3 (theres a translation patch now) but it was still amazing. The games were so great, they just took everything that made the first 2 games great and dialed it up to 11. Different weapon types, special attacks, supports, weapon triangle bonuses, second promotions, the 3 separate armies, fighting your armies from previous scenarios, and the final battle where all 3 of your armies come together to vanquish the ancient evil. Series couldn't have ended on a better note.

Masquirin, easily. Not only is she best girl, but she has the best spell selection of any caster ever in a Shining Force game.
