I was gonna give up and just go for the dos version, but didn't have a GoG dos version in my downloads for some reason, just a non gog dos version with the wrong music.
Decided to give it another go before asking you which GoG version you had which included dos and made sure to uninstall everything homm2 related before and restart my computer, and now it worked.
