Does ZSNES emulate lag?

I've been playing through a couple of games on it lately and there are rare instances where lots of enemy sprites fill my screen and the game slows down because it can't handle all of the enemies on screen. Understandably, if I were playing on an actual physical SNES I bet the game would slow down because of the limited hardware, but I'm on a Core 2 Duo machine that can play modern PC games at full speed. I shouldn't have any lag whatsoever.

Does ZSNES emulate how the SNES would've performed (lag and all) or is this just some kinda bug with the emulator?

To be honest, I'm just about always grateful when the game slows down. It allows me to dodge easier as I see enemy bullets come at me in slow-motion.

It's clear that Zsnes is the best Super Nintendo emulator available and has been for a long time but what are the definitive to go emulators for all the other consoles?

I feel this deserves its own thread. Why is Snes9x considered superior to Zsnes? Ive tried the former for more than two weeks, and noticed no difference except for the GUI.

>ZSNES

1.36:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/zsnes/zsneswv1.36.zip (for most Konami games)
1.42:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/zsnes/zsnesw142.zip (for everything else)

1.- Unpack the emulator wherever you want
2.- Configure your emulator: map buttons (physical controller preferred!), change resolutions, apply filters (if you want them)
3.- Agree on whether you will have sound on or off. If one has it but the other doesn't, the game WILL desynch
4.- Load any ROM to test your controls and to set a default ROM directory path
5.- Restart the emulator
6.- Go to Netplay, then click Internet
