Been replaying all of them recently, all of them fun as fuck, also SMB2J.
My vote goes to World, overall has the best controls and physics for me.
Yoshi's Island feels more like its own game, doesn't follow Mario rules closely despite being related, but likewise I consider YI to be on par with the main Mario games in quality

This. We take Mario for granted, but it is and always has been pretty weird and surreal. If you could flash your brain MIB style and forget everything you know about Mario, you'd think it's so really weird shit if you played the games for the first time again as an adult.
