>commit to your jumps

You keep always saying this line, but no, Bloodlines (The New Generation is a bad name) has not the same physics as Castlevania 1.

To give you a proper example, take the tower of pisa stage. In the vertical part with the medusa heads, you can jump and you will come on top of the platforms, almost as if your character goes through them vertically. The same happens in others instances in the game.
Something about the hitboxes I guess. That never happens on Castlevania 1.
Also, you can jump while on stairs on Bloodlines, that alone marks a huge difference.
You can't redirection the position of your character in mid-air like you can on IV or Rondo, but you can turn around very fast, unlike the original Castlevania, you can whip diagonally up, etc, etc.

It doesn't have the same physics as Castlevania 1.

They're not anything special besides the surprise factor the first time you play, but I don't mind them.
I think out of all "gimmick" stages in CV, I like this one the least. The medusa heads never really try to touch you, and the platforming feels weird, instead of having to jump on the edges of the platforms like always, you can just jump up and you end up above the platform, always thought that felt a bit sketchy. Also it's kind of long and all you do is jump up and wait for the screen to scroll.
The rotating room on IV is also waiting but I feel like it's very short, and the spinning room is just a normal section with platforming and enemies, the only issue is the slowdown.
There's another auto-scrolling gimmicky part on Bloodlines that I dislike, also on the tower of pisa, that one part you jump from platform to platform horizontally then vertically then horizontally again. The idea of jumping over floating rocks orbitating the tower of pise is actually cool, but that part is also mindless and boring and takes too long.

My problem with gimmick stages isn't the gimmick itself, but when it takes too long.

Thankfully they're just short sections on otherwise fine games.
