It became solid retroactice evidence for fans to go back to and finally realize what a massive hack fraud Takashi Iizuka has always been and what immense damage he has done to the franchise. Him being director of this game, and his directorial debut at that, with all the lame additions like an Easy mode for all the games that alter the stages in noticeable ways, should be enough of a hint as to why he was so bad at being the caretaker of the Sonic franchise.

He's like the anti-Kumazaki. Whereas Kumazaki is a fanboy of Kirby, and directed a remake of an older classic first and then became head of the franchise while doing his job PRETTY DECENTLY, Iizuka is a fanboy of Sonic, but his idea for a first director's game is a fucking pathetic mishmash collection on the fucking Sega Saturn with dumbed down difficulty levels as part of its marketing draw. Then becomes head of the franchise to... Do what exactly? Make the first 3D Sonic the remnants of a failed Sonic RPG? Make Heroes? Shadow the Hedgehog? Make Mania, "for the mania by the mania"? All full of contempt?

Sonic Jam might actually be the beginning of the end. Maybe not the pivotal moment where the franchise finally started to go sliding forever downhill like Sonic Adventure, but it was a telltale sign. It was a seed, a tumor, planted in advance.

Taxman & Stealth aren't Sonic Team/Sega and can't do whatever the fuck they want with Sonic. They didn't even want Green Hill, the man on the pic forced them to do add it and the other remixed zones.
