I despise the XII/XIII art style so much. It doesn't look at all like KoF to me. Yuri looks straight up retarded.

14 looks like ass as well, but slightly better at least. God the roster sucks though.

There's a whole heck of a lot I hate about XIII but the art style sticks in my craw the most. It looks and plays like a cheaply made KoF fan game. Which it almost is on some levels.

Sprites, easily. 3D models can be made to look really good as well though. I fucking hate the art direction in XII and XIII though. Everything looks like a fucking Falcoon drawing. His stuff was cool as fan art but not as the official style.

I actually really like the way they look. Overall I think III looks the best still because of my pixel boner, but I do like IV and V. At least they didn't move to a completely different art style like KoF did. That broke my heart.

I've decided that I have to accept that there are people who are okay with XIII because otherwise the arguing never stops. But boy ohh boy do I disagree with you. Both gameplay and aesthetics wise it looks looking nothing like King of Fighters at all to me at this point. Look at Athena and Yuri here... gone is the cool stylish realistic look the games used to have. Now they look like sickeningly over the top moe fap bait. Also that you had to pay for DLC out of the box to get a colour scheme for Athena that looked even close to her normal ones made me rage. I say good riddance.
