I, too, had the pirated copy. Years later I learned that the game actually had a soundtrack, a really good soundtrack. Same thing happened with Quake and some other games of that time.

I don't remember the beheading being in the original, but still... goddamn. You can roleplay a murderous maniac if you want to, so that's good. I hate when devs or publishers pussy out from some gruesome shit.
