This is from the original sprite. I can change it though.

You're seeing the firing frame, sans muzzle flash. The other frame has the back of the slide an inch forward or so.

Indeed. In truth I chose this 1911 because the sprite's angle was perfect from the get go, but a select fire 1911 is just what the Doomguy would use. Also notice the small (unfinished) compensator ports, modelled after pic related.
