For those having problems with Ion Fury being "dark" - console variable r_ambientlight controls the radius after which all lighting dims to black.
Set it to something like 2-3 and you'll have no problem with excessively darkened areas.

The sector lighting and deliberately dark areas are not affected by it, only areas that are dimmed down due to distance.
