Brothers, should I go down the CRT projector rabbit hole?

I have done the things I always wanted to do in the /vr/ hobby. I have played the games I wanted to play. I have owned RGB monitors. I have built MAME cabs.

But one thing I always wanted to have is a home cinema, and of course I am drawn to the older CRT projectors because of their low cost and potentially great image quality. They can be found for next to nothing right in a way that is similar to the prices of PVMs in the late 2000s.

But do I really want to do this again? It's even more trouble to set up than anything I've attempted before. Maybe I should just get a small lcd unit...

Still. Some of these old projectors can sync to 135khz. That's 2000 lines. Almost 4k. And made in the late 90s! Still, I know from my experience with presentation monitors like the Mitsubishi Megaview that just because CRT can sync to a resolution it doesn't mean it will look good at that resolution.

From the /vr/ side of things these should be very good. They support 15khz RGB natively. No lag. Basically the same as a PC CRT monitor from that side of things.

Hmmm...
