Gonna post some of the more popular modern SC:BW fan-made maps currently in use, as well as a quick rundown of the map. These are some of the most balanced and fair maps in the game, and far better than any of the stock maps blizzard made. Play on them, and you'll understand for yourself how much better they are.

Benzene by Str18-02
A 2-player map that has 10 additional base locations, 8 of which have gas. The natural secondary base for both players is overlooked by a ridge which can be accessed right into the main base by blowing up the NPC building in the way. The far edge of the main bases can be nailed by siege tanks sitting in the base over the unbuild-able ridges to the sides. The main is on high ground and behind a ramp making it very defensible, and the natural second has a narrow path leading out to funnel attackers. Along with bridges all over the place creating a lot of choke points, Benzene has seen a lot of very long and sneaky 1VS1 games over the years.
