Every day I'm thankful for the HDD port sparing me from installing a 20 wire modchip and burning DVDs to play ace combat and god hand.
You still have to burn Klonoa, tales of the abyss and Sly 1 with ESR though.

Everything is pretty much perfect.
Even as a saturn and vitafag I can admit that the dpad on DS1 and 2 is fucking great and rocks around well, DS3 is when it got too flat.

Since I would have to solder shit anyway, should I shell out the cash for this thing and it's shitty closed source firmware or just modchip my fat PS2 and take the cdburner pill?

I'm ok with my hands but have never soldered anything, is it feasible if I use flux and a small tipped iron?
I know the PS2 isn't retro but this is the console in question. 3000x only develop issues with DVD and not CD/PS1 disks right?
