I also ended up preferring the original game, despite the impressive visuals in the Dreamcast game. This is one of the very few instances of me preferring the Saturn over the Dreamcast

It's literally the same console. Almost all of those games are available in NTSC-U to begin with. This is like saying "Super Famicom's Japanese side" and posting a bunch of Mario and Kirby games. The Japanese games people always list are usually available on PS1 in English as well. Pretty much you gain close to nothing by sticking to only NTSC-J games, save for a few obscure shmups and fighting games. The best stuff was all released worldwide.

Saturn will never be TurboGrafx and Saturn fanboys will never be Japanese, no matter how hard they try.

The Genesis was a 2D powerhouse. The Saturn was designed for games like Virtua Fighter and Daytona USA.

I think it's coming from the people who think Saturn is for shmups while ignoring the actual first party games on it. Imo the shmups aren't even that good, never mind that most of them are on PS1.
