FPBP.
Imagine not owning both NTSC models, lol.
Also, these threads about console aesthetics design are always pointless: what paremeters do you sad niggers use to measure how good or bad a design is? Your own taste? And you think you have good taste in aesthetics? You're all tasteless faggots who weren't even alive back when this console was released anyway. And those of you who were alive and still complaing about either the SFC or the US SNES looking bad, I think you're just projecting: YOU are the ugly ones, not the consoles.

Did we ever get a real source for that or it's still an urban legend?
Anyway, if you don't already own both NTSC models, you're ngmi.

it's always funny to see people try to force this "us snes is ugly!" narrative.
Also, ultimately, even if you really think it's ugly, what are you, a woman? Why do you care so much about aesthetic?
But we know the answer. Shitposter-kun needs anything that will give him (You)s, so here's one out of pity!

Not really, this discussions has been made countless of times and there's not really any actual objective reason why some of you (likely europeans, or young weebs) hate the US SNES design so much.
Both NTSC models, SFC and US SNES, are pretty aesthetic, and unlike the change with Famicom to NES, the size remained the same.

If you mean the US model, the hate for it is a vocal minority meme. Both NTSC models are fantastic and worth owning.

I like both, got myself both NTSC models.
The carts are arguably better for the SNES in terms of design due to having end labels, but I really love the shape of the SFC carts, so...

I own both NTSC models and am happy with them.

No idea, but I love the combination of purple with the light grey.
Also like that the X and Y buttons are on a lighter shade of purple.
Super Nintendo is the only console where I feel owning both models is absolutely necessary if you care about having the best aesthetics. Both offer something unique.

I don't see it, OP. It looks good.
I don't see why "purple just doesn't look good at ALL", what's the reason behind that? The light grey/purple combination seems very fitting.
I also don't see what's wrong with blocky toggles, it's a geometrical shape... what's the bad thing about it?
If you don't own both NTSC models, you're missing out.

Because both use the same color scheme of the Super Famicom clover.

I like both deisgns, and I don't understand what's so "omg uglyyy!" about the US model. It just seems it's either angry europeans who can't understand that different!=ugly, or hipster zoomers who want to be different.
I can understand preferring one over the other, but outright loathing the US SNES as much as some people pretend to do? naah.
I'm also surprised the NES doesn't get more flak for its (useless) redesign. Apart from some knowitalls repeating some did you know gaming-tier stuff like "akkkschually, they changed the design so it looks more like a VCR, '83 crash, etc, etc", most people don't even seem to mind the fact that the NES is actually a rather bland square that's bigger than it needs to be when compared to the iconic Famicom.
In contrast, the US SNES actually keeps the same size of the SFC.
Also the best console of all time is the Famicom, by the way.

The American SNES is still the same size as the Super Famicom, and I honestly quite like design, as much as I like the SFC as well. Both look pretty cool.
There has been worse redesigns, for example Famicom to NES.
I still don't think NES looks "omg so bad", but it's a big huge box (compared to the Famicom) for no reason. At least US SNES retained the dimensions. Imagine if they pulled an Xbox Hueg.

Never understood the hate the US SNES gets. Sure it looks different from the Super Famicom, but it's not like it's oversized (like the NES was compared to the Famicom), and honestly I think the design looks pretty stylish, and the color scheme is also tasteful, I'd even argue it's more tasteful than the 4-colored buttons on the SFC, even if the SFC clover logo is iconic and I love it too.
That said, the hate for the US SNES I only see it online, IRL I've never met anyone who thinks it looks bad. Might be a sort of hot take thing that's common online, or maybe it's some sort of anti-Nintendo of America thing? I'd understand if that's the case since NoA sucked in many regards, but the design of the console has nothing to do with their policies.
At any rate, I love both for their own merits, I own both NTSC models.
