You're right, they don't inherently, but the devices I'm interested in (scalers, to continue using original hardware) do.
Most people aren't autistic enough to spend hours fiddling with crtroyale settings, and the people that do are still ultimately emulating- not that there's anything wrong with it, but the demographic is less wealthy and thus less likely to own the kind of beefy GPU and >1440p screens needed to get the benefit out of it.

That pic wasn't mine, but was taken by someone with an N64 Digital from about a foot away from a mid-tier screen. At a comfortable seating distance on a nice 4K OLED TV you would notice it far less.
And ultimately I don't need 100% accurate reproduction of CRT effects, just something that makes old games look remotely of-their-era on a modern TV rather than turning an SD image into a literal mosaic made up of (napkin math) 5mm tiles.
