Sprite Anon, I would love to resd you analysis of the sprite art in Rebel Moon Rising, an FPS using a proprietary engine released by Fenris Wolf Software in 1997. Unfortunately I can't find all the sprites, ripping them it is being discussed in this thread:

Catacomb Abyss is better than Wolfenstein 3D but it's not better than Doom or Duke. Duke is much, much, much better than Doom, pretty undebateable. In fact Doom is probably the worst Doom engine game. Heretic and Hexen and Strife were much more advanced. Granted Shadow Warrior and Blood were more advanced than Duke but they weren't better games.

Anyway, Rise of the Triad > Catacomb Abyss > Doom

But you guys wanna talk some actual obscure FPS? How about Rebel Moon Rising? CyClones? CyClones with the meme mouse control... Rebel Moon with the meme oxygen meter and insane secrets and friendly AI. Who has played these? What other obscure FPS do you feel like only you played?
