Of course Gimmick! looks better. It's probably the best looking NES game ever made, so that goes without saying.
All I'm saying is Kirby's use of pastel colors and lack of detail are totally intentional.

Also, Gimmick! isn't nearly as simple or abstract as Kirby.
Just compare the way both games do forests, it's not even close.
