2>(TRA)>1>LR>3>Chronicles

Haven't played many of the handhelds or spin-offs. But I didn't care for the ones I have played. They're always outsourced to odd low-budget teams.

TR1 and 2 feel like the pinnacle of the series for me. It's obvious just how much the dev team was shuffled around with TR3 and onward. They essentially reduced Lara to a brand name to continue marketing sequels.

I guess it's worth noting that some of the expansion level sets were pretty solid, though. Really enjoyed TR2 Gold and Lost Artifact, even though they lack any narrative.

Nice to see TR2 is more popular than I originally believed. And here I thought I was a hipster for liking it.

>Seriously, why the third is so loved?

Was it? I thought the consensus was that TR3 made the difficulty too steep, and forced too much bullshit on the player with pitch-dark areas, constant backtracking and the return of save crystals. (Assuming you were playing the console version)

I didn't particularly enjoy what I've played of it, but I'm nonetheless going to compel myself to finish it at some point. Last Revelation and Chronicles are also on my backlog.

Also, some of the bonus / expansion levels are worth mentioning. TR2 Gold had some interesting moments, and Lost Artifact was possibly better designed than TR3 itself.

>Which games have you finished?
TR1, 2, Angel of Darkness, Legend, Anniversary and Underworld

Half-way through Chronicles right now. I wanted to start Last Revelation first, but the sheer size of the game is intimidating. Chronicles is a blatant cash-in, but it does have some redeeming qualities. The first block of levels was probably the best.

I've also started on TR3, but I'm not liking all the pitch-black areas and limited save crystals. This definitely seems to be the hardest game in the series.

>Which one is your favorite?
TR2 by far. Too bad Crystal Dynamics never got around to a remake. Would have been interesting to see something in the same vein as Anniversary.

A lot of people complain about the number of (hard-hitting) human opponents in TR2, but I think it helps with the game's balance. The combat sequences in TR1 were just too easy, and since TR2's basic platforming elements weren't really improved upon in any way, the only way to challenge players at this point was to make the enemies that much harder.

>Favorite level?
Wreck of the Maria Doria, and all the surrounding underwater areas.

>Favorite weapon?
Desert Eagle

>Favorite Lara?
Crystal Dynamics era (Legend, Anniversary, Underworld)

Lara's personality is a lot more believable. The original trilogy portrayed her as a cocky badass killing machine. Legend and onward gave her more human qualities. I enjoyed the initial confrontation with Natla in Underworld. Lara's had enough of everybody's bullshit by that point.
