Quake 3 is such a perfect game because its THE fps without any bullshit. Every weapon has a clear form and function, the movement is extremely fluid and organic. The well designed maps and item placements leads games between 2 equally skilled players to become a an ebb and flow of control with extremely dynamic situations.

If you win a duel, you earned that win. If you lost a duel, you can learn something from it. You will never lose a duel because of a balance patch, you will never lose a duel because you picked a wrong item at the start of the game. You will never lose a duel because you picked a wrong build order.
You will never lose a duel because you picked the wrong class.

The only thing that matters in a 1v1 is pure skill. And after nearly 17 years of playing fps's I have never found a game that exemplifies this so much. And if you just wanna say lel you're not having fun, well thats just wrong. In all my time gaming, I have never found a game I enjoy more.
