What "complevel" does Crispy Doom default to? Does it automatically apply -gameversion Doom 1.9 (-complevel 2 in PRB+) to WADs using Doom 2 as the IWAD? Does it switch to UltimateDoom/FinalDoom compat (-complevel 3 and 4 respectively in PRB+) accordingly depending on the IWAD? Or does it have some sort of generic compat setting when you don't specify -gameversion ?

Hello /doom/. How would you rank the following WADs, difficulty wise - from hardest to easiest? Assuming vanilla DOOM gameplay on Ultraviolence.

You can use a numerical rating if you think there's a sufficient powergap between the overall difficulties of two consecutive WADs in your list. If you have any experience pistol starting them, you should mention that too (if it made a big difference in the difficulty or not, for example). You can also comment on why the WADs were difficult, if they were (abundance of enemies, challenging encounters, etc?)

Spear of Destiny is possibly my favorite FPS. Doom has more depth to it and way better map design, but there's something satisfying about the way Wolfenstein's weapons and combat feel. Even a piddly little guard sneaking up on you can kill you dead in a way that adds tension to the gameplay, but at the same time the enemies feel squishy and reactive in a pleasant way. I also like the arcade-style lives system.

Sekaiju. It's quite easy to get into; it's not hard to learn alone or by a guide, and you can easily load other midis and see the different channels.

Anyway, I wouldn't make good music even if my life depended on it. Any composer here has any advice?

Pretty good map, I liked the secret right behind the start, but it's a little too obvious. Those two shotgun dudes flanking the first door actually killed me. Don't rush blindly into rooms! All in all, it's a really nice looking map. Can't wai to see more from you!

I didn't grow up playing the dos fps, so I suck at it, mostly strafing. But I still love it, along with Doom and Quake.

These, fighting monsters in Doom is essentially like dancing.

Ducking, dodging, running, jumping, all to dodge projectiles, all with mouselook, it's so fast, fluid and rapid, it's exhilarating, I don't use it to break sequence, just plain evading enemy fire. I don't mind taking cover for hitscanners every now and then, but avoiding volleys of projectiles is just so fucking FUN.

The Arch-Vile scares me, but it's VERY exciting to duck behind pillars to avoid his devil magicks, letting off both barrels at him when running to the next column.
