I finished Arabian Nights Sabaku No Seirei ou a few months ago. It was pretty decent, although the encounter rate is off the fucking charts.

One game I played earlier this year that was a fan translation was Adventure of Hourai High. My god, I fell in love with the game. Unfortunately, the translation patch breaks the game in spots and I've heard here that a few people couldn't get far into the game because of it.

I wish someone touch up the patch and fix the errors that cause the game to crash. It's fantastic otherwise.

I haven't played many SNES games, but I fell in love with Adventures of Hourai High School.

It's a shame that some of the mechanics were broken in the translated version.

Well, I just beat Adventures of Hourai High School and I'd recommend it.

It's a first person JRPG and has a job system that involves joining clubs, rising through the ranks, and mastering skills specific to that club. There's a ton of recruitable members and you can have a total of eight party members at any time, being able to switch your main four with members of your reserve ranks seamlessly.

There's also an emphasis put on the friendship you have with your party members. Spending FP on them deepens your friendship, gives you access to their friend-only ability, and increase how many times you can use that ability.

The story's really whacky. You're a transfer student at a gigantic high school that takes up an entire island filled with monsters. You're basically drafted into working for the school's underground gossip newspaper and you uncover all sorts of weird shit going on throughout the school. There's also slight differences depending on your gender.

Finally, there's a ton of sidequests, hidden quests, hidden items, hidden characters, and goodies to find throughout the game.
