I rented it a long time ago and beat it within that rental. It is a decent game. Maybe not entirely balanced but who really cares. You might get your shit stomped by the first boss if you don't bring a heal spell, or that just powering up your staff would make you super powerful, but without some guides you just fumble around and discover it on your own.

I really like that the more you use magic the more your meter fills so you can distribute a point in one of the four elements. You can choose which element you can put this point in and if the elements are adjacent to one another you could get hybrid spells. That is really fun and interesting. Not only that but I wanted to see what the next spells would be like.

Due to the story put on the back burner the game allowed you to explore and fight rather than constantly stopping you with cut scenes or text dumps throughout the game. I personally like playing my games.

Sure it isn't the best game, but I do find it a lot more enjoyable over other "classics" like Breath of Fire II, Suikoden, and Xenogears.

It is you console and it isn't like you cannot buy an additional one as well.
