its mostly because, even if we group up and somehow do a 1:1 remake of Zebes or even prime maps on GZdoom for dreadnought, or even if we update dreadnought with zero suit mode(which would probably be a reskin of D4D with samus sprites), nintendo would probably find a way to C&D and screw with us, even if we do the sprites by ourselves

they couldn't do with dreadnought earlier, because it wanst that relevant for them to hunt it down, now if it was a bigger project, they would get us.

remember that any good fart that we do, would end up as news in a large and shitty gaming journalism website like PCG, mainly because they have spies on /vr/ and Reddit

if we come up and end up releasing a large metroid megawad, it would become news and then C&Ded later, even if its a Doom mod
