Neither.
The psone, like everyone else did before the ps2
I mean... It has proper dual analog controller and tons of games.

The best-selling console of all time.
Consider:
PS1 base model sales: 102 million
Add to this: PS2 & 3 are both fully backwards compatible with PS1 discs. SO
PS1 total lifetime sales = 102 + 156 + 87 =

345000000 PS1 sales.

I think this is the most interesting retro console, and should be the focus of /vr/'s attention for the forseeable future: there are so many games on here, and it has already been noted how, the n64 has a core cluster of 5 or 6 games that everyone who owned one liked, conversely, the PS1 had a multitude of moderate hits, with probably the highest amount of remarkable hidden gems left untapped.

Consider for now, the PlayStation, the definitive game console of all time.

Makes sense. How does the PSOne fair in comparison?

I love smaller console revisions. I modded my PSOne and just burn discs. I don't play enough ps1 games to warrant a whole ODE.

While I enjoy the original look of the PS1, I cannot deny just how cute the PSOne is. What other consoles would you consider as "cute"?

This. If you have the money get an xstation ODE mod, recap with high quality electrolytics, and it'll last you another 40+ years if you look after it. If you don't have the money then try to find a low mileage good condition PSOne. Lasers are not that hard to replace, but chinkshit "OEMs" are going to die on you sooner rather than later, if they work at all.

Is the PSOne moddable or have a compatible ODE?
I have a fondness for small console revisions, I'd like to get one.
In case it isn't, does anyone know if an XStation is compatible with a PU-22 motherboard for a regular PS1? It says on the site PU-20 isn't and lists some other compatible models but 22 isn't mentioned anywhere from what I can see.

Here's something even crazier: The PSOne outsold the original Xbox (28 million vs 24 million).
And I don't mean the first PlayStation as a whole, I mean just the redesigned slim model that was released in the summer of 2000.

The Japs did and its their console. Foe reference, it's not PS1 either, that was a budget remodel. You don't call the Super Famicom the "Super Famicom Jr." because of the newer model, do you/
