We had RGB as standard here (FRA), something about regulations and TVs that were sold here. It wasn't until late 90s that they started putting composite cables with a SCART adapter. For example Megadrive came with an RGB SCART cable, it's super bizarre too because there's a module with some circuitry on the cable itself. The argument that "Genesis should only be played with composite" is funny to me because of that.

It's a french Mega Drive.
Thanks to France still relying on the shitty SECAM standard back then a lot of consoles were produced specifically with RGB output in mind for that region.
It even came with it's own original RGB Scart lead like on the picture, though i forgot what exactly the circuitry in that lead does.
Another example would the the french NES. It came with a Multiout port that gave out RGB though unlike the Famicom Titler it does not actually have an RGB PPU inside.
All that one does is convert a normal PAL PPU's composite output back to RGB which might even make the quality a tiny bit worse.
