What is the consensus for the best games on the Genesis?

So I'm looking for a bit of help.

I've unearthed my Mega Drive/Genesis, model 2 from my parents attic this weekend, tried it out at their place, connected it to a modern TV via RF, everything was working fine.

Today i brought it home with me and connected it to an old CRT tv i have, with the same cable, but it's making a really annoying noise, like a buzz, and no actual sound is played during gameplay.

The image quality is fine, the games i tried all worked fine. Except no sound/buzzing.

From what i gathered, it might be that the damned thing isn't getting enough power, but i don't really have a way to test that at the moment, so I was wondering if anyone has solutions in case it's really not getting enough power, or other reasons why it might be doing this...

The AC adaptor is the original one, by the way and everything seems to be in excellent condition give it's age.

Why didn't more games take advantage of Lock-On Technology?

Or rather, why didn't console expansion packs catch on when they were clearly possible.

Shit like the SEGA CD and 64DD failed because it's a whole extra console, if it's just an expansion for a game then it could still work.

I guess it's good to play 1 and 2 if you never have, but only fans of the series will really get the most out of those entries. Most people probably wouldn't hurt to skip straight to S3K, which is
1. the highlight of all Sonic games 2. the last good Sonic game ever made
3. the only really good Sonic game there is
4. the absolute best game on the Genesis
5. within the top 10 games of the 90's
