Thanks for the help earlier on irc. Still can't plug anything in yet but I just found an in-country source for the adapters @ 50 cents each which is nice.

I'm noticing it now that the lights are low in my place... one monitor seems a lot blacker than the other. The other looks slightly washed out with a blue tinge to it. Both of them were completely reset and in this picture both are on the same input with nothing connected. Is this an indication of anything to be worried about?

Also, the whine is real. I'm a bit concered because I don't remember CRT whine as being this annoying (when I was younger I could obviously hear it, I remember always being able to know if my dad was watching TV any where in the house even though it was on mute). I have not used or seen CRTs in years now, except last week I went to check out some trinitrons and they didn't bug me at all. As soon as I fire up these pannies it hits me very hard and gives me a slight headache/sharp ear ring for a minute or two. After a few minutes I get '"used to it'", but if I concentrate I can definitely know they are on. I'm thinking that maybe it might be more than just the typical CRT high frequency noise, since I don't ever remember it being this bad as a kid (and I assume my hearing has gotten worse).
