Super Metriod is one of the most overrated games of all time. It lacks the platforming challenges that a standard platformer at the time had thus the platforming was dull which of course is due to the expectations of the player back tracking through rooms on their first play through. The combat is dull as well. Most enemies are fairly lame thus aren't fun to actually kill, they are fairly limited in what they can do, and due to how aiming is it just wasn't fast nor fun unlike run n' guns like Contra or Metal Slug so aiming at anything that wasn't straight left, right, or up, wasn't natural compared to the standard. With that it just leaves exploration which is just a time investment rather than a challenge or something actually interesting.

It isn't a terrible game, but it boggles my mind in how people can actually think it comes even close to the top ten games ever made.
