Fucking loved it, but I've played it to death. DQM is still fun to go back to since the dungeons are randomized and there's such a ridiculous amount of monster combinations to play around with..

This was a great re-release of the original Mario bros. Has tons of extra content, a save function, and though a simplified version it comes with the Lost Levels.

Atomic purple GBC with this.

Mario Bros. Deluxe is so good. Even with the limitations of the GBC they managed to deliver a great port of the original game. I played the crap out of it.

This port was a god damn triumph.

I spent probably my whole summer in '00 mastering this motherfucker. Sunk in many hours. Felt so great unlocking the Lost Levels, and then of course there was lots more stuff to play like the Boo races, versus mode and challenge mode.

A port but with more content should be the rule of thumb. See: Super Mario Bros Deluxe and Final Fantasy V for GBA.

What not to do in a remake? I guess trying to force modern conventions and the like on the game, like what happened when Final Fantasy III came to the DS. Also never take OUT a feature, like what happened to Dragon Quest IV on the DS.

This is easily the definitive version of Super Mario Bros.

It takes the first two games, and applies things from them in ways no one would have thought of before.
