5th gen, nah man, not only did all our TV's have scart but we had SCART cables and only povvos were using RCA & RF cables the PSX's RF cable was real bad
6th gen, yeah, we were using SCART there too and it looked great but they were putting cheaper cables in the boxes now, RCA cables with SCART adapters but not full pin or anything, had to buy better cables and component cables but that's alright.

One of my earliest memories gaming is waiting for my dad to come on a saturday morning so we could go to the swim centre, I was playing Sonic, it was clear, at least I remember it looking clear, but the contrast was low because our TV was cheap, and very old, I guess we had it tuned in well. I miss that TV.
Anyway I'm at the window, my mum's blazin' the heat but it's like june so idk why but I'm on my tippy toes to look out the window, looking to see if my dad's comin, me mum tryna get me to play sonic to take my mind off it. He's no comin'. I'm looking at a 50m stretch of pavement waiting for him to walk down. I'm not enjoying Sonic, we own no other games.
Picture was fairly clear, low contrast. I wouldn't mind playing that today. I do not recall scanlines but then again I'm marred by seeing shitty filters that looked nothing like my VGA CRT.

Now me auntie's Sega? That. That right there was some fooz shit, a modern TV, barely tuned in and too much contrast, too much saturation. I still dislike ecco the dolphin to this day. Fuck ecco. That was probably the experience you're thinking of and I wouldn't play that today.
May I suggest twiddlin' the fine tune dial bro. Think that's how me dad got it so clear.

Now, if you'll excuse me. I'd like to remember turning off ecco, james pond, sonic & knucles and going through to watch poirot with me aunt thx.
