It's all in the reflexes, like baiting a fiend's melee, weaving between an ogre's grenades, doing the shambler dance; Quake hits a sweetspot Doom never could for me. I'm sure it's the same for you, just the opposite. I could play Quake mappacks forever the game is so good to me.
